ABODA WA Workshop

ABODA WA PRESENTS:

The Elements of Expressive Conducting

We are excited to invite you to a professional learning workshop with conductor and educator Connor Siekman.

Date: Thursday 24 July

Time: 7:00 pm

Venue: 20 Lucca St, Churchlands Senior High School - Choral Studio

Cost: Free

The Elements of Expressive Conducting is a brand new conducting methodology developed at the University of Michigan. It is founded on the belief that conducting is not only a technical skill, but also an expressive art. The workshop explores how conductors can use familiar, natural gestures to transform musical intention into physical movement.

A key focus of the methodology is developing "availability" through physiological understanding and practical exercises that reduce tension, allowing a conductor's movement to genuinely communicate their musical intent. Connor will introduce the core principles of this pedagogy through demonstrations and interactive exercises.

Please bring your baton and wear comfortable clothing, as the session will involve practical movement activities.
